How I beat the recession

By Calvin On February 4, 20102010-02-04T16:41:18ZF j, Y Under Life

Everyday you hear about the economy and how bad it is. You also hear about how hard things are these days. Throughout this whole recession no one has ever heard me mention either of the two. Why? Because I figured out how to beat it early in the game. At one time I was making more than 70k a year. I worked at the hospital and we got word that layoffs were coming so I started preparing cause I knew it was going to get ugly. I immediately started to reduce the amount of money leaving my bank account. I had a mortgage I sold the house. I then purchased a forclosed house and paid cash. There went my single most expensive bill. I had a BMW and a Tahoe. Sold! to the highest bidder. I then purchased a vehicle and paid for it cash. We used to eat out a lot. I had to cut that out and started cooking more meals at home. One family trip to McDonald’s costs the same amount as buying groceries for home made dinner for a week! Basically I focussed on my needs and not my wants and by doing that I’ve been able to coast along with no problem.
